RACM Frequently Asked Questions
What does an initial first consultation involve?
We are a Sydney-based professional team endeavouring to provide you with the highest standard of health care and customer service in our field.
As such, your first consultation will last 1 ½ hours to allow us to comprehensively cover your health history and conduct a thorough health assessment using Chinese medicine diagnostic techniques. In the first hour we discuss your medical history and conduct a Chinese medicine health assessment. Once assessed, we provide you with an individual treatment plan. In the last half hour, we provide an acupuncture treatment using very fine and disposable needles. We may also prescribe Chinese herbal remedies.
What do I need to bring for my initial first consultation?
Please bring along any relevant blood test results and scan reports, as our practitioners will be able to use them as a part of their assessment.
Do I need a referral from my GP? No referral is needed from your GP, however, any relevant medical records would be useful for your practitioner to be able to review.
Can I claim my treatment on my private health fund?
All our practitioners are registered with the private health funds and as such, if your coverage includes acupuncture, you will be able to claim part of the consultation cost. We have HICAPs in house to facilitate this process. However not all funds are part of this scheme and you may need to claim separately. Please note that Chinese herbal medicines and supplements are not currently covered by the health funds.
Can I claim my treatment through Medicare?
Unfortunately, at this time, acupuncture and Chinese medicine are not covered by Medicare.
What is the clinic's cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours' notice during business hours if you need to change an appointment time, otherwise we must charge the full cost of the appointment as a cancellation fee. Unlike most medical centres, we conveniently provide generous appointment times that allows us both the opportunity to run on schedule (so you are not left waiting), and to conduct a more thorough consultation. To help us provide you with a high level of service, we need your assistance and understanding in following and supporting our policy.
Where is best to park close to the clinic?
There is on street parking in the local area, although Darling Street (Rozelle Sydney) near the clinic, is paid ticket parking only. There is, however, unlimited free parking in the back streets, a couple of blocks down from the clinic.
