tcm paediatrics

In Bob Flaws book, ‘A Handbook of TCM Pediatrics’, he describes the rich history of Chinese medicine treatment of babies and children throughout the centuries.

Some of the classics Flaws cites include: ‘Xiao Er Yao Zheng Zhi Jue' (A Collection of Essential Paediatric Patterns and Treatments) 1032-1113 CE; and also from the Song dynasty ‘You You Xin Shu' (The Heart Book of Pediatrics); ‘Bao Ying Cao Yao' (Essentials for the Care and Protection of Infants) in 1956; and ‘You Ke ei Cui' (A Collection of Paediatric Cases) in 1534. Today, all hospitals in China have a Chinese Medicine Paediatric Department.

The paediatric conditions that we treat include:

  • Pain Management,
  • Nausea and Vomiting Post Surgery,
  • Nausea and Vomiting Post Chemotherapy,
  • Allergies,
  • Sinus Infection,
  • Bronchitis,
  • Chronic Infections,
  • Poor Immune System,
  • Digestive Disorders,
  • Anxiety,
  • Irritability,
  • Skin Disorders,
  • Dyslexia,
  • Bedwetting,
  • ADD,
  • ADHD.

We use gentle massage of acupuncture points and take-home 'press seeds' that stick like a small band-aid on acupuncture points. These stimulate the meridians just as 'fine needles' do, but without actually having to use needles. We also offer laser acupuncture (see Laser Acupuncture).
